Karen's plant looks much truer than mine. I wish I could locate one that looks like the Optimara picture. If you look at the picture from Optimara (see link above) you will see long, narrow petals and a group of pollen sacks in the center. I love that look and can't find it anywhere!!!!! |

I am growing out several baby plants to see if I can come closer to
original Optimara, but I have had no luck. This plant was sold by a vendor
as Optimara Violet Sapphire, so it either sported, or is a poor example,
or was at some point mislabeled---no idea. Since this pictures is in
FirstClass 2 I also feel obligated to correct this sistuation. What's going on!?!?!?!?!?! ![]() See the cute little plant blooming at the top of the page? I set leaves and this is what I got! BELLS, and two different colors. On the left, the same color as the parent but the flower refuses to open all the way. On the right, white with purple-red centers, also bells. It blooms this way every time. It's not Violet Sapphire! I love the bells but I want a Violet Sapphire pleeeeeese!! Here is the Violet Sapphire flower shape: ![]() See a photo of a true blooming Optimara Violet Sapphire See another true Opt. Violet Sapphire |
