My Digital Art

I finally treated myself to a program I had wanted for a long time, Xara Xtreme. Here's what I've done since I bought the program in July 2007. This program is awesome. I have always tried to express myself artistically, but I am a klutz with a brush. The computer is a perfect medium for me, yet I was never truly able to get the ideas in my head onto the screen before I bought Xara.

One of my first attempts at the jewel effect. The jewel effect was part of a July 2007 tutorial from Xara Xone. 10/14/07

Here is another jewel effect, with a photo of my Optimara Little Opal. 10/15/07

Here is a different effect with a Naturally Nawlins African Violet bloom that belongs to a violet buddy. 11/30/07

I made this one for my daughter and son-in-law. 11/29/07

I made the Idea Box for a business website. It was part of a feedback form. 11/03/07

Here is a "button" leading to a company photo album. 11/03/07

I call this "the Exploded Vase" because it was sort of an accident but I love the effect. 11/02/07

This is a glass push-pin that I learned to create by following the steps of a March 2007 Xara Xone tutorial. I love the glass effect and how you can look inside the pin. 10/28/08

My first attempt creating a candle. I tried to capture the glowing quality of the wax. The flame is from Xara Xone Workbook 12. 11/23/07

My candle revised. I studied an actual photo of a candle flame and tried to recreate it. I also added an ornament. Currently the ornament is a cut and paste photo with some editing. Eventually I intend to replace it with one drawn with Xara...someday. 11/28/07

See the parts of the candle here (opens in new window).

A doodle. Playing with shapes and fills.

Practicing with Alien Skin. This one is named "Museum Piece". It depicts a tattered old map that claims to be the "real" Treasure Island Map.  12/29/07

Here's another version of 2008 that I made for my violet club.

Happy New Year SwapBuddies!

Wishing you a year full of blooms!

The graphic you see when you first open my website was created with Xara Xtreme. I used layers, textures, fills, transparency, and of course, my own photos. See it here

All the pictures in the house:

Left to right in the doorway:
Molly, my oldest cat (behind the door, with a cut and paste ear added, since she has only one)
My grandparents on mom's side (large oval frame)
My parents (just above the flowers)
The flowers--purple/white is Little Opal, red is just an edited version.
In the window:
